The good news…

Meeplemart is contemplating the reopening of its game space May 1. It would consist of 10-12 tables (that can be put together to create 5-6 roughly 4x6’ gaming tables) for board, card, or miniature gaming. We will also extend our hours to 8pm Monday-Friday. A selection of game mats and terrain will also be available for use. This setup would be very similar to what was previously offered before it was closed 6 years ago. We currently have no plans for a table booking service. All tables will be “first come first serve”. We will however explore hosting theme nights, painting and modeling sessions, events, tournaments and leagues depending on customer interest level.

The bad news…

Leasing space in downtown Toronto is very expensive and keeps going up every year. So, in order to make this financially viable, we will have to charge for the use of said space. We will offer 2 ways to play; An annual “Game Pass” of $120 for unlimited “regular” use for 1 year (starting May 1) or a $5 “Day Pass” for a “regular” single day’s use, (both during regular store hours). Annual Game Passes will also provide discounts to (“non-regular”) tournaments or leagues that may or may not be run, depending on customer interest level and other bonuses and discounts that may be offered.

Now, is your chance to help make this happen.

Similar to a crowd funding campaign, we have up for sale on our website both the annual Game Pass and Day Pass. We need to initially sell at least $10000 worth of these passes before May 1, for this to work. That is less than 100 Game Passes! If you choose to buy Day Passes, they will be valid for 1 year from date of purchase. (You may purchase multiple Day Passes and use them throughout the year). Annual Game Passes are non-transferable and will be tied to the person they are purchased for/ by. Single Day Passes are transferable and are deactivated after each use, (like our Gift Cards).

If you are an out of town customer and don’t think you will use the space, but want to help support the cause, you may purchase either Pass and gift it to someone else (also like our Gift Cards), or if you don’t know anyone local that would use them, we can give them out for you as prizes etc.

If we reach the target by May 1 and the game space reopens, both Passes will still be available to purchase on an ongoing basis. If we do not reach the target by May 1, the game space will not reopen, and all monies collected will be refunded.
