In this fantasy universe, each player is the chief of a tribe of dragon keepers, defending the dragons from attacks by the evil hunter. The hunter wants to see those cute dragons dead but must get past the dragon keepers. The keepers belong to different tribes but together they have the common goal of protecting the dragons. The keepers use magic in their duels with the evil hunter. Dragon Keepers was designed by Vital Lacerda and his youngest daughter, Catarina. Says Vital, "She is the one who knows a lot about dragons and I could have never been able to do this design without her." Dragon Keepers has two different games in the same box. One game mode is a quick game for ages 6+ and the other is a challenging cooperative game for ages 9+.

Dragon Keepers offers two different modes of gameplay in one box! The first mode, called the Keepers game, focuses on a lighter experience for children 6 and up. The game only takes 5-10 minutes and is easy for young children to comprehend and enjoy with the help of an adult.

The second mode of play, called the Dragons game, is a cooperative game with aspects of press your luck, deduction, and hand management for 2-4 players. This game requires more strategic thinking and is suited for adults and older children.

The game offers 2 different modes of play that accommodate both solitaire and strategy based players as well as a mode for younger children. Both of these modes have the same style and flair as any other Vital Lacerda type game.
