The 1st-gen FORD GT was a retro styled street car that mimicked the legendary GT40 race car. In 2016 the 2nd-gen Ford GT was the opposite; built as a race car but street legal. 2016 not only marked 50 years since the legendary GT40 won the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans but it was that same year it competed successfully in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and won the LMGTE Pro class.
