WWII Japanese Navy light cruisers were used for a variety of tasks including fleet escort, reconnaissance, torpedo attack, destroyer flotilla leader, and transport. Most were 5,500 ton veteran ships built in the Taisho era, and this is an assembly kit of the Kinu, which was completed in 1922 as one of the ships of the Nagara-class. Its long, narrow hull, three funnels, and box-shaped bridge have all been realistically reproduced and the 14cm guns and dual 61cm torpedo launchers are also highly detailed.
