This is an assembly kit of the Tama, which was completed as the 2nd ship of the Kuma-class in 1920. From 1942 to 1943, she was involved in operations around the Aleutian Islands such as the invasion of Kiska and the Battle of the Komandorski Islands, before being sunk by submarine attack in waters off the Philippines. The model depicts the ship as she appeared near the end of 1942 during the invasion of Kiska. For these northern operations, she had a white and dark gray camouflage, giving her a unique appearance among Japanese Navy warships.
